Cosmetic products need to be of appropriate microbiological quality and free of certain pathogens when they are produced — so each batch should undergo the microbiological specifications test. The test determines the total count of aerobic mesophilic microorganisms (bacteria plus yeast and mould) and screens the finished product for the most common pathogens.
